Critical Thinking Leaders Award
Ivy League Study Skills will donate $750 to community service projects that are created and will be managed by each of the winner(s) of our Critical Thinking Leaders Award. Each winner can choose a non-profit organization or school of his/her choice to work with and the service project should be one in which the winner is committed to and that is focused on sustaining a long-term positive impact within the community.
Deadline: March 15th
Selection Criteria for ILSS Critical Thinking Leaders Award:
* A commitment to apply one’s learning in ways that positively contribute to society
* Academic leadership
* Community and/or school leadership
* An alumnus of the Ivy League Study Skills Learning and Leadership Institute
Scholarship requirements:
1. Submission to Celebrate (email this with your CTL application)
2. Proposal (limited to 500 words)
3. Resume (two-page limit)
4. One (1) scanned copy of a signed and official school transcript
5. One letter of recommendation and a tax exempt letter from the organization
In your proposal, identity the non-profit or school you will work with and detail how you plan to spend the $750. The proposal must be written in Times New Roman font, size 12, and be double spaced. Moreover, the proposal must be entirely written by you. Please include your name and contact information (email and phone number) in the header of your proposal.
Your letter of recommendation must be written by a staff member from the school or non-profit organization you plan to work with for your service project. Please inform your recommendation writer to limit this to one page and email this as a Word document directly from the recommendation writer’s official email address to impact@ivyleaguestudyskills.com or fax this on official letterhead to (641)-795-1898. The subject line should read: “CTL Recommendation for [student’s name].”
All scholarship materials must be received by March 15th of the award year. Applicants must send everything, items #1-4 as described above, as attachments via email to impact@ivyleaguestudyskills.com. Because of the competitiveness of this award, we cannot accept any application that is received after the due date.
We reserve the right to decide who will win the award and how many individuals to award based on the specified criteria and are under no obligation to explain our decisions to anyone for any reason. Unfortunately, the selection process is extremely competitive so we are unable to answer any questions about the criteria or award selection.
All applicants will receive notification of their status via email by April 10th. Winner(s) must complete their service project by July 4th of the award year or forfeit the $750 award donation.
Good luck alumni! We hope this humble contribution on our part helps you, as Gandhi once said, “be the change you wish to see in the world.”
